Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Maintenance Manager will be the primary authority for all aspects of facility management and maintenance within the hotel. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Leading and managing the entire hotel maintenance team, including recruitment, training, development, scheduling, and ensuring peak performance and efficiency.
  • Operations Management: Planning, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all hotel systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, swimming pools, and exterior landscaping.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Preparing and managing the annual maintenance department budget, controlling operational expenditures, and ensuring optimal use of resources and materials.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensuring the hotel fully possesses and complies with all local health, safety, and municipal regulations, while conducting regular training programs for the team.
  • Project Management: Overseeing renovation and upgrade projects, coordinating with external contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed on time, within quality standards, and on budget.
  • Emergency Response: Developing and implementing effective emergency response plans for system failures, acting as a key point of contact during any facility-related incidents.
  • Sustainability: Contributing to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability initiatives within the hotel to reduce the carbon footprint and operational costs.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this leadership role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in maintenance management or facilities management, with a strong preference for background in the hotel or hospitality sector.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) building systems. Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) is a significant advantage.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a multicultural team, with excellent communication and delegation skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and administrative abilities, with the capacity to manage a multi-project budget simultaneously.
  • Problem-Solving: A proactive mindset and the ability to analyze complex problems and make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
