Job Description

The successful estimator will be integrated into the procurement and projects team, taking on the primary responsibility for accurate cost and quantity estimation for marble projects. Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing architectural and structural project drawings and documents (blueprints, specifications) to fully comprehend marble requirements.
• Preparing precise cost estimates encompassing material prices (marble, granite, adhesives, etc.), labor, fabrication, and transportation costs.
• Calculating the required quantities of various types and finishes of marble, factoring in wastage and loss percentages during fabrication and installation.
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations for materials and services.
• Preparing professional and detailed quotations for submission to clients or the sales department.
• Working closely with project managers and design engineers to ensure estimates are accurate and viable.
• Maintaining price databases and monitoring market fluctuations for raw materials.
• Assisting in the technical and quantitative review of contracts.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered a suitable candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent proven long-term practical experience may be considered.
• Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a similar role (Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Engineer, Cost Estimator) with a strong focus on marble, granite, and natural stone projects. Experience in the Bahraini or Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) market is a significant advantage.
• Technical Skills:
  • Excellent proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software like AutoCAD for drawing review.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for preparing quantity take-offs and cost spreadsheets.
  • In-depth knowledge of marble and granite types, their properties, and market pricing.
  • Strong understanding of marble installation processes and construction methodologies.
