Material Engineer Job in Kuwait

Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Material Engineer will be responsible for the technical aspects related to construction and building materials across various projects. Core responsibilities include:
- Material Selection & Specification: Identifying and selecting appropriate construction materials (e.g., cement, concrete, steel, composites, insulation) based on project requirements, standard specifications, environmental considerations, and cost.
- Material Inspection & Testing: Supervising the inspection and testing of incoming construction materials at the project site or in accredited laboratories to ensure compliance with technical specifications and contractual agreements.
- Quality Assurance & Control: Developing and implementing quality assurance and control plans for materials used throughout the project lifecycle, from the supply phase to final installation.
- Technical Reporting: Preparing detailed technical reports on test results, analyzing data, and providing necessary recommendations to management and contractors.
- Troubleshooting: Investigating any material-related quality issues or failures and proposing appropriate engineering solutions.
- Team Coordination: Working closely with design engineers, site engineers, project managers, and suppliers to ensure harmony and integration in all processes.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensuring all materials and processes comply with relevant local (e.g., Kuwait Standards and Metrology Society) and international standards, as well as safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering field from an accredited university.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in materials engineering, preferably within the construction or contracting sector in the Gulf region.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the properties and testing of various construction materials (compressive strength, tensile strength, elasticity, durability). Knowledge of Kuwait's building codes and regulations is a significant advantage.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional Certifications: Possession of professional certifications in quality assurance or materials inspection (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Inspector) will be highly regarded.
- Language: Proficiency in both Arabic and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
