Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The Material Specialist will be integrated into the logistics and supply chain management division, playing a critical role in ensuring project operations run smoothly and efficiently. The core responsibilities for this position include:
- Inventory Management: Overseeing the receipt, storage, and issuance of materials and equipment to project sites in accordance with schedule requirements.
- Quality Control: Ensuring all incoming materials conform to agreed technical specifications and standards, coordinating with quality control teams.
- Planning & Procurement: Assisting in material requirements planning, preparing purchase requisitions, and following up on purchase orders with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
- Documentation & Tracking: Maintaining accurate inventory records using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Tracking material movement from supplier to construction site.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinating with transportation teams and subcontractors to arrange efficient shipping and delivery of materials to various project sites.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and environmental regulations during material handling and storage.
- Reporting: Preparing regular reports on inventory levels, order status, and any supply chain bottlenecks for management review.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Industrial, Mechanical), Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role (Material Specialist, Procurement Coordinator, Warehouse Supervisor) within the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sector. Experience on major projects is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Hands-on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.
- Solid understanding of supply chain processes and quality control procedures.
- Personal Skills:
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
