Material Specialist Job at Parsons in Riyadh

Parsons, a globally recognized leader in engineering, construction, and infrastructure development, is currently seeking a qualified Material Specialist to join their project teams in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This position presents an outstanding opportunity for experienced professionals to contribute to some of the region's most significant and transformative development projects.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Material Specialist will be based on the project site and will be primarily responsible for ensuring the efficient and organized flow of materials from requisition to delivery at the point of use. Key responsibilities include:

  • Warehouse & Storage Management: Overseeing the receiving, organized storage, and issuance of materials to the site as per project requirements and schedules.
  • Quality & Quantity Verification: Inspecting incoming materials to verify conformity with technical specifications and purchase orders regarding quality and quantity.
  • Tracking & Documentation: Maintaining accurate inventory records using electronic systems (such as SAP or similar), and updating material movements daily.
  • Coordination with Suppliers & Contractors: Acting as a liaison between the project team and suppliers to ensure timely material delivery and following up on any delays.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring all materials are stored in compliance with company and site Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures, minimizing waste and loss.
  • Reporting: Preparing periodic reports on stock status, materials received, and materials issued for project management.
  • Supporting Procurement Operations: Assisting in periodic inventory counts and participating in identifying re-order needs.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Industrial, Mechanical), Supply Chain Management, or Logistics. A diploma with equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role (Material Specialist, Storekeeper, Logistics Coordinator) within the construction or major engineering projects sector.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction and engineering materials, their specifications, and appropriate storage methods.
  • Administrative Skills: Proficiency in warehouse management software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Personal Skills: High level of organization and attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse teams. Ability to work under pressure and meet challenges.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Arabic language skills are a strong advantage.
