Job Description
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will be stationed at a worksite, with core responsibilities focused on ensuring the proper and safe operation of mechanical equipment and systems. Mechanical Maintenance Engineers serve as key members of maintenance teams, responsible for preventing failures and minimizing unplanned downtime, directly contributing to operational and production targets.
Key Expected Responsibilities:
- Planning & Execution: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance plans for static and rotating mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and mechanical conveying systems.
- Diagnosis & Repair: Proactively diagnose complex mechanical faults, identify root causes, and execute effective and timely repairs to restore functionality.
- Breakdown Management: Respond to emergency breakdowns and sudden failures, taking swift and decisive action to minimize downtime and production losses.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct periodic inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and local/international safety regulations.
- Supervision & Guidance: The role may involve supervising maintenance technicians, providing technical guidance, and ensuring all tasks are performed according to standard operating procedures.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, technical reports, spare parts consumption, and prepare reports on equipment performance and improvement recommendations.
- Safety: Strictly adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols on-site and participate in incident investigations as required.
Requirements and Qualifications

Academic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Advanced professional certifications or international credentials (e.g., PMP, asset management certifications) may be an added advantage.
Practical Experience:
- Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 to 5 years in mechanical equipment maintenance, preferably in industrial, construction, or oil & gas environments.
- Practical experience working with a variety of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, fluid dynamics, and strength of materials.
Personal and Technical Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams and drawings (P&ID, Isometric).
- Good knowledge of relevant computer software (e.g., CMMS maintenance management programs, basic AutoCAD tools).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to work in field locations and sometimes under pressure.
- Strong commitment to safety standards.
Job Location
This position is available for projects in Qatar and Kuwait. Candidates must be prepared to work in either location based on project requirements.
