Mechanical Supervisor - Veolia, Muscat

Veolia, a global leader in optimized resource management and environmental services, is recruiting for the position of Mechanical Supervisor to be based in Muscat, Oman. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Supervisor will be stationed at an operational site, holding direct responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of mechanical activities. The role operates within Veolia's broad service scope, which encompasses water management and treatment, energy services, and waste solutions. The core responsibilities expected for this position include:

  • Supervision & Leadership: Leading a team of technicians and mechanics on-site, directing them to perform maintenance, repair, and installation tasks efficiently and safely.
  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensuring all mechanical work is executed to the highest quality standards and technical specifications, with strict adherence to company and site-specific Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Assisting in planning preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and ensuring the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and spare parts to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitoring the performance of mechanical systems and equipment, diagnosing complex faults, and proposing and implementing effective solutions.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Preparing daily and weekly reports on work progress, equipment status, and any incidents or non-conformities, while maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with engineering, projects, and other supervisory departments to ensure seamless operational integration and the achievement of operational targets.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a higher technical diploma (or equivalent) with broader practical experience.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or utilities environment, with at least 3 years of proven experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical principles, pumping systems, piping systems, rotating equipment, and control systems. Knowledge of Quality and Safety management systems (e.g., ISO) is a strong advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Other Requirements: Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Knowledge of Arabic may be advantageous. The candidate must possess a valid driving license.
