Job Description and Key Responsibilities

- Medical Review of Requests: Assessing requests for precertification of hospital treatment (admissions, surgical procedures, specialized treatments) submitted by hospitals and treating physicians.
- Application of Coverage Policies: Verifying that the proposed treatment plan aligns with the terms, conditions, and exclusions of the member's health insurance policy and ensuring it meets accepted medical criteria.
- Communication with Providers: Engaging in professional and clear communication with hospitals, clinics, and doctors to clarify authorization requirements or request additional medical information to support the decision-making process.
- Decision Making: Issuing decisions for approval, denial, or requesting further review based on thorough medical assessment and compliance with company policies.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance: Contributing to ensuring all precertification processes adhere to the highest medical quality standards and local regulatory compliance in Bahrain, as well as Allianz Group's global standards.
- Support and Consultation: Providing technical support and consultation to other teams within the company regarding medical issues related to inpatient coverage.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. A postgraduate qualification in health management or a related field is preferred.
- Licensing: The applicant must possess a valid medical practice license from the relevant health authorities in Bahrain or be eligible to obtain one.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical clinical experience (e.g., in hospitals, clinics). Previous experience in the health insurance sector or in medical review/precertification roles is a significant competitive advantage.
- Personal Skills:
- Strong analytical and evaluative skills for medical data and information.
- Excellent decision-making ability based on evidence and policies.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
