Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed MEP Supervisor will be based at a construction project site in Qatar and will serve as the primary field authority for all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing system works. Core responsibilities include:
- Direct Supervision: Daily on-site supervision of technical work crews (technicians and foremen) executing MEP tasks, ensuring work is carried out according to the defined schedule.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensuring all executed works conform to design specifications, approved shop drawings, and the highest quality standards, while maintaining full compliance with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and laws in Qatar.
- Coordination & Planning: Close coordination with the Project Manager, design engineers, subcontractors, and other project departments to ensure workflow harmony and avoid clashes. Assisting in planning work sequences and resource allocation.
- System Inspection & Testing: Overseeing the initial inspection and testing procedures for MEP systems (e.g., electrical circuits, HVAC, plumbing networks) prior to final handover, ensuring they are defect-free.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying technical or execution problems that arise on-site and working to develop practical and timely solutions in consultation with the engineering team.
- Reporting: Preparing daily and weekly progress reports on work advancement, team productivity, and any safety incidents or violations, and submitting them to the Project Manager.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To apply for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution. Significant proven practical experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
- Practical Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in MEP works, with a substantial portion spent in a direct supervisory role on major construction project sites. Experience in the GCC market, particularly in Qatar, is a significant advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of international and local codes and regulations pertaining to MEP works and safety (e.g., Qatar Construction Specifications, NFPA standards, ASHRAE standards, etc.).
- Personal Skills: Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written). Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Mandatory Conditions: Applicants must possess a valid Qatar Residence Permit (transferable sponsorship status is acceptable) or be ready to relocate to Qatar if selected. Proficiency in the English language is essential, and knowledge of Arabic will be an added advantage.
