Asyad Drydock (Asyad Repair & Build), a leading ship repair and building facility in the Gulf region, is inviting applications for the position of Naval Architect Design Engineer. Job Description

The Naval Architect Design Engineer will be responsible for critical technical and design aspects within the company's operations. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the engineer will aim to deliver innovative and high-quality engineering solutions. The core responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • Participating in the design and engineering processes for new ships and marine structures.
  • Conducting structural, hydrostatic, and hydrodynamic calculations and analyses.
  • Preparing detailed technical drawings and plans using specialized Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Contributing to the development of project specifications and technical bid documentation.
  • Providing technical support during construction or repair phases in the drydock.
  • Ensuring all designs comply with international standards, maritime regulations, and safety codes.
  • Collaborating with engineers from other disciplines (mechanical, electrical) for successful systems integration.
  • Reviewing and analyzing design plans submitted by external parties.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this critical technical role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering or a closely related engineering field from an accredited university.
  • Experience: Proven hands-on experience in naval architecture or ship design. Previous experience in a shipyard (new building or repair) is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in marine engineering design software such as AutoCAD, FORAN, NAPA, or similar.
    • In-depth knowledge of naval architectural principles, ship stability, and resistance.
    • Strong understanding of international maritime rules and regulations (e.g., IMO, SOLAS, Class Society rules).
  • Personal Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team.
    • Flexibility and the capacity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
