Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The selected foreman will hold a critical leadership role on the project site, with primary responsibilities including:
- Direct Supervision: Overseeing technical work crews specialized in the fabrication, installation, and welding of piping systems on-site, ensuring tasks are completed according to established schedules.
- Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensuring all fabrication and welding work is executed in strict compliance with approved technical specifications, engineering drawings, and stringent quality standards (e.g., ASME, API). Holds full responsibility for implementing and enforcing all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Planning & Coordination: Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and other work teams to optimize workflow and plan necessary resources (manpower, equipment, materials) on a daily and weekly basis.
- Technical Control: Inspecting and monitoring the quality of welds and fabrication work, verifying the suitability of materials used, and reporting any non-conforming work.
- Training & Development: Guiding and training team members on best practices and standard procedures, fostering a culture of hard work and discipline.
- Reporting: Preparing daily reports on work progress, productivity, non-conformances, and any incidents or potential hazards.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education & Experience: A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, Welding, or equivalent long-term practical experience. A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in piping systems, with a proven track record of at least 5 years in a Foreman/Supervisor role on major industrial projects (e.g., Petrochemical, Power Plants, Desalination, Refineries).
- Technical Expertise: Deep practical knowledge of all piping fabrication processes (cutting, bending, fitting) and various welding techniques (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW). Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, Isometrics) and standard specifications.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a multi-national workforce, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to solve problems and manage challenges under pressure.
- Preferred Certifications: Holding recognized welding certifications (e.g., Welder, Inspector) or safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is a significant advantage.
- Language: Proficiency in English for written and verbal communication. Knowledge of Arabic is an additional asset.
