Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing new commercial initiatives within the "Oman New Ventures" scope. They will operate in a strategic environment requiring a deep understanding of the oil and gas sector, its associated value chains, and the broader energy landscape. Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Identifying, evaluating, and developing new and innovative business opportunities aligned with PDO's long-term strategic objectives and Oman's economic diversification plans.
  • Project Development: Leading projects from the initial ideation phase through to maturity, including conducting feasibility studies, risk analysis, and developing financial business models.
  • Commercial & Financial Analysis: Preparing detailed financial and economic analyses for proposed projects, including cash flow modeling, Internal Rate of Return (IRR) calculations, and Net Present Value (NPV) assessments.
  • Stakeholder Management: Building and managing strategic relationships with potential partners, contractors, suppliers, and government stakeholders to support the execution of new ventures.
  • Negotiation: Leading or supporting the negotiation of commercial agreements and contracts with partners and contractors.
  • Reporting: Providing clear and concise reports to senior management on project progress, recommendations, and projected financial outcomes.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this leadership role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum) or a related field such as Business Administration or Finance. A Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a higher qualification is a strong competitive advantage.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in the oil & gas or energy sector, with a strong focus on business development, strategic planning, or commercial project management. Prior experience in a leadership role within new ventures or investments is essential.
  • Technical Skills: A deep understanding of the technical and economic aspects of oil and gas projects, including exploration, production, and processing operations. Advanced skills in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent leadership and management capabilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills at all levels, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations. Strong analytical and strategic thinking. Ability to work in a multicultural environment and manage diverse stakeholders.
  • Language: Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
