Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Procurement Officer will be placed within the Procurement or Supply Chain department, responsible for a range of critical tasks that support the company's operational and financial objectives. The core responsibilities expected for this role include:

  • Managing the Procurement Process: Overseeing the complete procurement cycle, from identifying needs and requesting quotations (RFQ) to issuing purchase orders (PO) and following up on delivery.
  • Sourcing and Evaluating Suppliers: Identifying new suppliers and evaluating the performance of existing vendors based on criteria such as quality, price, reliability, and service.
  • Negotiations: Negotiating terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers to secure the best possible value for the company.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Ensuring all purchasing activities adhere to the company's internal policies and procedures, as well as any applicable local regulations.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Building and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with the supplier network.
  • Follow-up and Coordination: Tracking purchase orders with both suppliers and internal departments (like warehouses or end-users) to ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintaining Records: Accurately documenting all transactions, agreements, and contracts within the company's systems.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this opportunity, the ideal candidate is expected to meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Work Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in procurement or supply chain functions, preferably within an industrial or large service company environment.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel). Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for procurement is a significant advantage.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills (Arabic and English).
    • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail.
    • High organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Integrity and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Local Knowledge: A good understanding of the supplier market and business practices in Kuwait is an added advantage.
