Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The appointed Procurement Officer will be integrated into the company's procurement department and will be responsible for a range of vital tasks that support the supply chain and core business operations. Key responsibilities include:
- End-to-End Procurement Management: Overseeing the complete procurement cycle, from identifying the needs of various internal departments, to preparing Request for Quotations (RFQs) and Purchase Orders (POs), through to the receipt of goods and verification against specifications.
- Supplier Sourcing and Evaluation: Researching and identifying new local and international suppliers and contractors, evaluating their financial and technical capabilities, and ensuring their alignment with company standards and policies.
- Negotiation: Conducting effective negotiations with suppliers to secure the best possible prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and quality conditions, thereby contributing to cost reduction and enhanced profitability.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong, sustainable working relationships with existing suppliers, monitoring their performance, and addressing any delivery or quality-related issues.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensuring full compliance with the company's internal procurement policies and procedures, as well as relevant local regulations in Qatar. The officer will also guarantee that all purchasing activities are accurately documented and files are maintained systematically.
- Internal Coordination: Working closely with various internal departments such as Finance, Warehousing, and Project Management to accurately understand their requirements and ensure purchase requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in a procurement or purchasing role, preferably within the import/export, international trade, or a similar industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel). Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for procurement is a significant advantage.
- Personal Skills:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both Arabic and English.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge: A good understanding of procurement principles, international trade procedures (e.g., Incoterms), and Qatari customs regulations will be highly regarded.
