Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Procurement Specialist will be placed within the company's Procurement or Supply Chain department and will be responsible for a range of vital tasks that support the company's operations and strategies. The core responsibilities expected for this role include:

  • Managing the Procurement Process: Overseeing the complete procurement cycle, from identifying needs and preparing Request for Quotations (RFQs) and Purchase Orders (POs) to negotiating prices and terms with suppliers.
  • Sourcing and Evaluating Suppliers: Identifying new suppliers and evaluating the performance of existing vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-competitiveness.

  • Supplier Relationship Management: Building strong, positive working relationships with suppliers to ensure ongoing cooperation and resolve any disputes that may arise.

  • Internal Coordination: Working closely with other departments such as Finance, Inventory/Warehouse, and Projects or Operations to fulfill their material and service requirements in a timely manner.

  • Maintaining Records: Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of all purchase orders, contracts, and correspondence with suppliers.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain & Logistics, Engineering, or a related field. Specialized procurement certifications (e.g., CIPS) would be a strong advantage.
  • Work Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in procurement or purchasing, preferably within a dynamic private sector company environment. Experience in the Bahraini or Gulf market is a significant plus.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel), and good knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for procurement.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in both Arabic and English (verbal and written).
    • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities.
    • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet challenges.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Team spirit and the ability to work independently.
