Job Overview

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for leading and organizing all procurement and supply activities for the MOVENPICK hotel(s) in Bahrain. This pivotal role is essential in ensuring seamless hotel operations by securing high-quality goods and services in a timely manner, while maintaining financial efficiency and adhering to company policies.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Procurement Process Management: Oversee the entire procurement cycle, from needs identification and Request for Quotation (RFQ) preparation to price negotiation, Purchase Order (PO) issuance, and delivery follow-up.
  • Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strategic relationships with a network of reliable local and regional suppliers and contractors. Evaluate supplier performance and ensure compliance with agreed quality standards and terms.
  • Cost Control and Budgeting: Work closely with department heads and financial management to control procurement costs, contribute to the preparation of the procurement budget, and ensure adherence to it.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all purchased materials, whether food and beverage items, cleaning supplies, spare parts, or furniture, meet the stringent quality specifications of MOVENPICK Hotels.
  • Compliance and Procedures: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with local Bahraini laws and regulations, as well as with the established internal policies and procedures of the MOVENPICK group.
  • Logistics Management: Coordinate with warehouse and inventory departments to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Team Leadership: The role may involve supervising, training, and guiding procurement staff to ensure departmental goals are met.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

  • Local Residency: Applicants must be currently residing in the Kingdom of Bahrain (holding a valid residency permit).
  • Experience: Proven experience of at least 5 years in procurement or supply chain, with a strong preference for experience in the hotel, hospitality, or F&B sector.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, make decisions, and manage a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Negotiation and Analytical Skills: Excellent negotiation skills coupled with strong data and cost analysis abilities.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient in Procurement/ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English, with strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Market Knowledge: A solid understanding of the local supplier and services market in Bahrain.
