QHSE Officer Job in Oman

A leading and reputable company in the Sultanate of Oman is currently accepting applications for the position of QHSE Officer (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment Officer) at its operational site located in the Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate. This role presents an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals in integrated management systems for quality, safety, health, and environment to join an organization that prioritizes compliance and operational excellence.

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed QHSE Officer will hold a critical on-site position and will be primarily responsible for ensuring all company operations comply with local and international standards, as well as internal quality, safety, and environmental policies. The core responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and Implementing QHSE Management Systems: Contributing to the formulation, updating, and implementation of QHSE policies, procedures, and management systems across all company departments.
  • Conducting Periodic Inspections and Audits: Performing regular inspection tours of work sites and facilities to verify compliance with regulations and safe work procedures. Preparing detailed reports on findings and submitting them to management.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Identifying and evaluating potential workplace hazards (safety, health, environmental) and developing effective control and prevention plans to avoid incidents.
  • Incident Management and Investigation: In the event of any accident, near-miss, or environmental emergency, the QHSE Officer will be responsible for leading the investigation to determine root causes and formulating corrective and preventive action recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Training and Awareness: Designing and delivering training and awareness programs for all employees and workers on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and QHSE management system requirements.
  • Legal Compliance: Monitoring updates in relevant Omani legislation concerning labor, environment, and occupational health and safety, and ensuring company systems are updated accordingly.
  • Reporting and Statistics: Collecting and analyzing QHSE performance data (e.g., incident rates, audit results, non-conformities) and preparing periodic reports for senior management.
  • Promoting a Safety Culture: Acting as a focal point and advocate for a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility across all employee levels within the organization.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Civil), Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of internationally recognized professional certifications in HSE is highly preferred (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor).
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a similar role as a QHSE Officer or Supervisor, preferably within industrial, oil & gas, construction, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of quality, safety, and environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001) and international safety standards (e.g., formerly OHSAS 18001). Strong knowledge of Omani health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
    • Effective training and presentation skills.
    • Ability to influence and persuade others to follow safety procedures.
