A leading and confidential company in Saudi Arabia is currently seeking applications for the position of Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to be based in its Al Khobar office. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the financial and commercial aspects of mechanical projects, ensuring cost efficiency and measurement accuracy. The core duties will include:

  • Preparing and analyzing detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for mechanical projects, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
  • Reviewing drawings, plans, and technical specifications to accurately determine material and labor requirements.
  • Performing measurement of mechanical works from construction drawings and preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Monitoring actual project costs against the approved budget and preparing variance reports.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of bids and tenders for new projects.
  • Managing and evaluating claims from subcontractors and suppliers related to mechanical works.
  • Working closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure the project's financial flow.
  • Reviewing and certifying interim payment applications (invoices) from contractors and suppliers.
  • Contributing to Earned Value Management (EVM) procedures for the project.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be eligible for this key career opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • A professional certification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS) will be a strong added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a similar role as a Quantity Surveyor, with a strong focus on mechanical projects.
  • Proven experience working on major construction projects in sectors such as commercial buildings, residential complexes, hospitals, or industrial projects.
  • Deep proficiency in relevant computer software, especially quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and advanced spreadsheet tools (Microsoft Excel).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of common construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC) and standard cost management practices.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic will be an additional advantage.
