Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Research Coordinator (PHIE) will play a pivotal role in supporting research and analysis activities related to safety, environmental, and quality performance. The focus will be on ensuring compliance with international standards and best practices within a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Key expected responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and executing research plans and schedules for PHIE-related studies within energy projects.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and preparing periodic reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to safety and environmental performance.
  • Supporting project teams in conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes, and developing corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Assisting in the development, review, and updating of Integrated Management System (IMS) documentation, policies, and procedures related to PHIE.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and regular updating of the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) information database.
  • Coordinating with various departments (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering) to promote a strong safety culture and environmental compliance.
  • Contributing to the preparation of presentations and training materials for safety and environmental awareness programs.
  • Participating in internal audit and review processes of PHIE management systems.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

Brunel is seeking candidates with a strong and proven background in a similar field, coupled with a deep understanding of the oil & gas or energy sector requirements.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent) or in Environmental Science/Safety Management.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of practical experience in a similar role (research coordination, HSE data management, quality assurance) within the oil & gas or energy sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international Health, Safety, and Environment systems and procedures (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken, is essential for communication in the international workplace.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to gather complex data and present it in clear, concise reports.
  • High-level organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (especially advanced Excel and PowerPoint).

Preferred Skills (will be a distinct advantage):

  • A recognized professional certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
  • Previous work experience in Qatar or the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
  • Knowledge of relevant Qatari regulatory body systems and procedures.
