Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful hostess will be the first point of contact for guests upon entering the restaurant, playing a pivotal role in shaping their first impression and overall experience. The primary responsibilities for this position include:

  • Greeting and Welcoming Guests: Receiving customers at the entrance with a warm, friendly, and professional welcome, creating an atmosphere of hospitality and comfort from the very first moment.
  • Managing Waitlists and Reservations: Efficiently organizing waiting lists during peak hours and managing the reservation system, whether via phone or online platforms. This involves ensuring information accuracy and recording important details.
  • Seating Guests: Escorting guests to their appropriate tables, taking into consideration their preferences (such as requesting a quiet table or one near the window), and coordinating with the service staff to ensure the table is ready.
  • Providing Initial Information: Offering basic information about the restaurant to first-time visitors, such as informing them of daily specials or answering simple queries about the menu.
  • Coordinating with the Team: Working closely with the waitstaff, kitchen team, and management to ensure a smooth service flow, and notifying servers of new guest arrivals or any special requests.
  • Maintaining Order and Cleanliness: Ensuring the reception area and front lobby appear tidy, organized, and inviting at all times.
  • Handling Initial Inquiries and Complaints: Professionally and politely addressing guest inquiries or minor concerns that may arise upon arrival, and escalating more complex issues to the relevant management.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To be eligible for this opportunity, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualifications: A high school diploma as a minimum. Preference will be given to candidates with certificates or courses in hospitality or customer service.
  • Experience: The company prefers candidates with previous experience in a similar role (hostess, receptionist, customer service) within a restaurant, hotel, or service sector. Fresh graduates with the right personality and a strong willingness to learn may also be considered.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Excellent verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
    • A friendly, courteous personality with a service-oriented spirit.
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • A neat, professional appearance and demeanor.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
    • A positive attitude and team-player mentality.
  • Technical Requirements: Basic knowledge of using reservation systems and telephones. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is an added advantage.
