Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Rooms Operations Manager will hold a central role in leading and managing all activities related to the rooms division within the hotel. The primary responsibilities for this leadership role include:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Directing and managing the rooms division teams, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Room Control, and Concierge services. This involves training, developing, and motivating staff to achieve service goals and maintain brand standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Overseeing the strict implementation of Marriott International's standards for service, cleanliness, and orderliness in all guest rooms and related public areas. Conducting regular inspections and ensuring immediate resolution of any deficiencies.
  • Financial Management: Contributing to the preparation of the rooms division budget and controlling operational costs, including managing labor levels, inventory, and expenses to meet financial targets.
  • Guest Experience Enhancement: Addressing guest complaints related to rooms and handling special situations proactively to turn negative experiences into positive ones, ensuring guest loyalty.
  • Operational Planning: Developing plans and procedures for peak seasons and special events, ensuring optimal readiness to handle high occupancy rates.
  • Internal Collaboration: Working closely with other hotel departments such as Sales & Marketing, Food & Beverage, and Engineering to ensure service integration and a seamless guest journey from arrival to departure.

Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this leadership opportunity at Marriott, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in supervisory or managerial roles within the rooms operations division of 4 or 5-star hotels. Previous experience with major international hotel brands is highly preferred.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management, Tourism & Hospitality, or a related field. Extensive and exceptional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education in some cases.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a large and diverse team, with excellent communication and delegation skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth familiarity with Property Management Systems (e.g., Opera) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for rooms divisions.
  • Service and Quality Orientation: A genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest service and an eye for the finest details of quality.
  • Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze operational and financial data and make informed decisions based on insights.
  • Language: Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written. Proficiency in Arabic is a significant advantage in the Omani job market.
