Job Description and Responsibilities

The Safety Engineer will be placed within a technical/engineering team and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the highest occupational health and safety standards across all operations. The core responsibilities expected for this role include:

  • Developing, implementing, and continuously improving Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (OSHMS) in line with international and local standards.
  • Conducting regular Risk Assessments and Root Cause Analysis for existing and new operations and projects.
  • Planning and executing audit and inspection routines for work facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Designing and delivering effective training programs for company personnel on safety procedures and emergency protocols, fostering a strong safety culture in the workplace.
  • Investigating workplace incidents, accidents, and injuries, and proposing corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Reviewing plans and technical specifications for new projects to ensure safety requirements are integrated from the design phase.
  • Preparing periodic reports and performance statistics related to safety and managing relationships with relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Staying updated on the latest laws, regulations, and technologies in the field of occupational safety.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or any engineering discipline directly related to the safety field.
  • Professional Certifications: Holding globally recognized professional certifications in safety is a significant advantage, such as NEBOSH, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), IOSH, or their equivalents.
  • Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in safety engineering, preferably within the oil and gas, petrochemicals, construction, or major manufacturing sectors.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of global safety management systems like ISO 45001, OSHA standards, and relevant local Saudi regulations (e.g., Civil Defense requirements).
  • Personal Skills: Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in both Arabic and English. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. The capacity to work within a team and in a multicultural environment. Leadership and the ability to influence others to adhere to safety protocols.
