Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Safety Engineer will be assigned to a technical department or a vital project within the company, serving as the primary responsible for promoting and implementing a culture of occupational health and safety. The core responsibilities expected for this position include:
- Developing and Implementing Safety Policies & Procedures: Creating comprehensive safety plans and programs that comply with local regulations (such as those from the Public Authority for Industry and the Environment Public Authority in Kuwait) and international standards, ensuring their practical application across all relevant work areas.
- Conducting Risk Assessments and Periodic Inspections: Performing regular inspections of work sites, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and establish engineering and administrative control solutions to mitigate them and prevent accidents.
- Investigating Incidents and Injuries: In the event of any accident or near-miss, the Safety Engineer is responsible for leading the investigation team, identifying root causes, preparing detailed reports, and proposing corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Training and Awareness: Designing and implementing effective training programs for all employees and workers on safety principles, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures to ensure universal awareness of responsibilities.
- Reviewing Project Plans: Participating in the review of plans and drawings for new projects or modifications to ensure safety requirements are incorporated from the design phase.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or any engineering discipline relevant to the safety field.
- Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized professional certifications in Occupational Health and Safety is a significant advantage, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP, or their equivalents.
- Work Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in safety engineering, preferably within sectors like Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Construction, or Manufacturing in the Gulf region, with knowledge of Kuwaiti safety regulations.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (e.g., OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001), ability to read engineering drawings, and an understanding of manufacturing/construction processes.
- Personal Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in both Arabic and English.
- Leadership abilities and skills in team management and influencing others to promote a safety culture.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies.
