Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Safety Officer will be stationed at the worksite in Al Farwaniyah and will bear primary responsibility for monitoring and enforcing established safety protocols. The core duties of this position include:

• Implementation & Monitoring: Ensuring full compliance with all local Kuwaiti safety regulations and relevant international standards on the worksite.
• Inspection & Auditing: Conducting regular and systematic site inspections to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, or unsafe work practices.
• Reporting & Documentation: Preparing detailed reports on safety incidents, near-misses, and inspection findings. Maintaining accurate records of all safety-related activities.
• Training & Awareness: Assisting in the development and delivery of safety procedure training programs for workers and new employees. Promoting a strong safety culture awareness among all team members.
• Risk Assessment: Participating in workplace risk assessments and proposing effective control measures to mitigate identified risks.
• Equipment Checks: Verifying that all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and site machinery are serviceable and meet safety standards.
• Liaison & Coordination: Working closely with project management, contractors, and supervisors to ensure safety is prioritized in all operations.
• Emergency Response: Assisting in the development and review of emergency response plans and ensuring all personnel are familiar with the procedures.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A university degree (Diploma or Bachelor's) in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety (HSE), or a related field.
• Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized safety certifications such as NEBOSH (at least the General Certificate), IOSH, or equivalent is highly preferred.
• Work Experience: Proven practical experience of 3 to 5 years in a Safety Officer or similar role, preferably within sectors like construction, oil & gas, industrial, or logistics.
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of applicable Health and Safety systems and legislation within the State of Kuwait.
• Personal Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) in Arabic and English.
  • The ability to instruct confidently and enforce safety procedures when necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite).
• Other Requirements: Applicants must hold a valid Kuwaiti residency (transferable) or be eligible to obtain one.
