Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The appointed Safety Officer will join a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, serving as the primary officer responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The core responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing, implementing, and updating the company's Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local Saudi regulations (such as those from the General Authority of Civil Aviation or the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development) and recognized international standards (like OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001).
  • Conducting regular inspections, audits, and surveys of sites, offices, and equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure safety compliance.
  • Investigating all accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents, determining root causes, preparing detailed reports, and proposing and implementing corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Designing and delivering effective training programs to raise safety awareness across all employee levels, covering topics such as emergency procedures, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and hazard identification.
  • Maintaining accurate safety and incident records, and preparing periodic statistical reports for senior management on safety performance.
  • Coordinating with relevant government authorities (like Civil Defense) during official inspections and providing all required documentation.
  • Participating in and conducting regular safety meetings, providing recommendations to enhance the safety culture within the organization.
  • Reviewing plans for new projects and operational processes to conduct safety risk assessments from the planning stage.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be eligible for this critical role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or equivalent) or in a Science field related to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized safety certifications such as NEBOSH International General Certificate or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor or equivalent locally and internationally recognized credentials is highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) field, with preference given to experience in sectors like Construction, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or Logistics.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Saudi and international safety regulations and systems. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software.
  • Personal Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) in Arabic and English.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Leadership skills and the ability to influence and persuade others on the importance of safety procedures.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
