SAHARA ENGINEERING SERVICES AND TRADING LLC is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join its team for projects in the key industrial hub of Sohar, Oman. Job Overview

The appointed Safety Officer will be site-based and primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable local and international Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and regulations. SAHARA ENGINEERING SERVICES operates in a dynamic environment with diverse projects, requiring a vigilant and adaptable safety officer to monitor and enforce best practices.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Directly oversee the application and implementation of the company's HSE policies and procedures at the project site in Sohar.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
• Investigate any accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents, preparing detailed reports with recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
• Organize and deliver basic awareness and training programs for workers on safety procedures, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and emergency protocols.
• Review contractors' and in-house Method Statements and Task Risk Assessments for various activities.
• Ensure all safety and firefighting equipment is available, properly maintained, and that all safety signage is clear and adhered to.
• Maintain accurate required safety records and documentation, and prepare periodic reports for management.
• Act as a point of contact with local regulatory authority representatives regarding safety matters as needed.
• Promote a positive safety culture among all team members on site.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial) or a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• A recognized professional safety certification such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent is a significant advantage.
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a Safety Officer role, preferably within the construction, engineering projects, or industrial sector.
• In-depth knowledge of Omani and international safety standards and systems (e.g., OSHAD, ISO 45001).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (Arabic & English) with the ability to prepare reports and deliver presentations.
• Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and demonstrate integrity and firmness in enforcing rules.
• The applicant must possess a valid residency permit for the Sultanate of Oman and be able to work in Sohar city.

Work Location

The role is fully field-based at the company's project site within the Sohar Industrial Estate, which is one of Oman's premier industrial zones, hosting major projects in petrochemicals, manufacturing, and logistics.
