Senior Contracts Specialist (Post Contract) - Doha, Qatar
A prominent client operating within Qatar's energy and infrastructure sector, in partnership with the global recruitment firm Brunel, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Contracts Specialist with a dedicated focus on the Post Contract phase. This role is designed for seasoned professionals with extensive experience in advanced contract administration within major, complex project environments, particularly in Oil & Gas or Construction/Engineering industries.
Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will occupy a pivotal role, ensuring compliance and efficiency during the contract execution phase. The focus will be on the operational and administrative aspects of contracts to safeguard project objectives and company interests.
Core responsibilities include:
- Post-Signature Contract Management: Overseeing the full implementation of terms and conditions within signed contracts with vendors, contractors, and partners.
- Review & Analysis: Evaluating and assessing requests for variations, change orders, and amendments to existing contracts, analyzing their financial, schedule, and technical implications.
- Claims Management: Examining, assessing, and managing claims submitted by contractors or claims against them, working towards resolution in collaboration with legal and technical teams.
- Compliance & Monitoring: Ensuring all contracting parties adhere to their contractual obligations and preparing regular performance and risk reports.
- Communication & Coordination: Acting as a key liaison between internal stakeholders (projects, engineering, finance, legal) and external contractors or suppliers.
- Contract Close-Out: Managing the final contract close-out process, including final settlements, issuance of completion certificates, and document archiving.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
Education & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications in Contract Management (e.g., CCM, ICCM) is a strong advantage.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of practical experience in contract administration, with a strong focus on the post-contract phase.
- Proven experience working within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or major Infrastructure project sectors.
- Previous working experience in the GCC region, specifically in Qatar, will be highly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of relevant local and international contract laws and regulations (Qatari Civil Law, commonly used FIDIC suites).
- Exceptional analytical and interpretive skills to handle complex contract clauses.
- Excellent negotiation and dispute resolution abilities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple contracts/projects simultaneously.
- Strong proficiency in computer applications and contract management software.
