Job Description
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for providing high-accuracy cost estimations for construction and engineering projects, a critical role in the pre-execution phase to ensure financial feasibility and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing comprehensive and detailed cost estimates for new projects based on drawings and technical specifications.
- Analyzing tender proposals and contract documents to identify requirements and financial risks.
- Performing quantitative analysis of work items (Quantity Take-Off) using specialized software.
- Communicating and coordinating with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing data.
- Preparing and presenting estimation reports and quotes to senior management for decision-making.
- Reviewing and evaluating actual costs versus estimated costs during project execution to identify variances and improve future estimation processes.
- Ensuring compliance with company standards and best practices in the construction industry.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be a successful candidate for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of practical experience in cost estimation, with a strong focus on major building and construction projects. Experience in the UAE or Gulf region market is a significant advantage.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in cost estimation and quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Planswift) and MS Office, particularly Excel. Solid knowledge of construction methods, materials, and market prices.
- Personal Skills: Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Leadership skills and the ability to manage a team and work collaboratively.
