The Sultan Center (TSC), a leading retail and services conglomerate in the Gulf region, is actively recruiting for the position of Senior Internal Auditor at its headquarters in Kuwait. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Senior Internal Auditor will play a crucial role in enhancing the governance, risk management, and internal control framework at The Sultan Center. The core responsibility is to provide independent and objective assurance to company management and the board. Key duties and field assignments include:

  • Planning & Executing Internal Audits: Leading and executing comprehensive internal audit plans to assess the effectiveness of internal control systems across various departments and operations (financial, operational, compliance).
  • Risk Assessment: Contributing to the process of identifying and evaluating operational and financial risks facing the Group and proposing risk mitigation plans.
  • Compliance Review: Ensuring all activities, policies, and procedures comply with applicable local regulations and laws in Kuwait, as well as the Group's internal standards.
  • Financial Process Examination: Reviewing financial records and transactions for accuracy and completeness, and verifying the soundness of accounting procedures.
  • Process Improvement: Identifying weaknesses and opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness in operational and financial processes, and providing practical, actionable recommendations.
  • Reporting: Drafting clear, concise audit reports that highlight findings, observations, and recommendations, and presenting them to senior management.
  • Follow-up: Monitoring the implementation of audit report recommendations to ensure identified gaps are addressed.
  • Team Collaboration: The role may involve supervising an audit team or working closely with other members of the internal audit function.

Qualifications & Requirements

To qualify for this leadership position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or higher professional qualification is a significant advantage.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of a recognized professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of proven experience in internal auditing or external auditing, with demonstrated experience in leading audit engagements. Prior experience in the retail or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector will be given priority.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of internal audit principles and best practices (IIA Standards), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and risk management/internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO).
  • Personal Skills: High integrity and professional ethics with the ability to maintain confidentiality and objectivity. Strong analytical and investigative skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. Strong interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships with management at all levels.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel), and familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP or Oracle.
