Senior Pipeline Engineer - Doha, Qatar

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Senior Pipeline Engineer will be integrated into a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for a range of important technical and supervisory tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Design and Engineering: Lead and manage the detailed design processes for new pipeline systems or the development of existing designs, ensuring compliance with the highest international standards (e.g., ASME B31.4, B31.8, API 1104) and local Qatari regulations.
  • Analysis and Planning: Conduct advanced engineering analyses including stress analysis, risk analysis, and safety and reliability assessments throughout the pipeline's lifecycle.
  • Construction Supervision: Provide technical supervision and guidance during the construction, installation, testing, and commissioning phases of pipeline projects, ensuring contractor adherence to technical specifications and work schedules.
  • Maintenance and Integrity: Develop and implement effective preventive and corrective maintenance strategies. Manage periodic inspection programs (using techniques like PIGging) and assess the integrity of existing pipelines, formulating plans for rehabilitation or replacement as necessary.
  • Project Management: Contribute to project management aspects including cost estimation, scheduling, quality control, and the preparation of technical reports for management and stakeholders.
  • HSE Compliance: Ensure all activities align with the company's stringent Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, working to minimize environmental impact and promote a culture of safety.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

To be eligible for this senior role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering field from an accredited university.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience in pipeline engineering, with a strong focus on oil & gas or energy projects. Experience within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is a significant advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge: Profound expertise in specialized engineering design and analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, AutoCAD). Comprehensive knowledge of material specifications, welding procedures, and corrosion protection systems.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and supervisory capabilities. Effective written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a complex project environment.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized professional certifications (such as PMP, or professional engineering charters) will be highly regarded.
