Job Overview

The Senior Planning Engineer will be primarily responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating plans and schedules for complex engineering and construction projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget through the application of best-practice project management principles and advanced planning tools. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, the engineering team, and subcontractors to achieve the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Develop detailed project plans and comprehensive schedules using specialized software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Monitor the progress of ongoing projects, analyze variances from baseline plans, and provide periodic reports to management.
• Coordinate and consolidate inputs from various departments (engineering, procurement, execution) to ensure the accuracy of project plans.
• Prepare critical path analyses and identify key activities and potential risks that could impact the schedule.
• Provide recommendations and necessary corrective actions to address any delays or scheduling challenges.
• Participate in design reviews and progress meetings with clients and contractors.
• Support the tendering/bidding process by preparing preliminary schedules and resource estimates.
• Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards in all aspects of planning and scheduling.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• A minimum of 8 to 10 years of practical experience in planning and scheduling for major engineering or construction projects.
• Excellent proficiency in project planning software, with a strong preference for hands-on experience with Oracle Primavera P6.
• Deep understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI) and earned value management principles.
• Exceptional analytical skills and advanced problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of industry standards and requirements in Qatar and the GCC region is a significant advantage.
