APAVE Gulf (LLC) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Preservation & Materials Inspector to be based in Muscat, Oman. Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Senior Preservation & Materials Inspector will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of materials used in industrial and construction projects and verifying the application of optimal preservation and maintenance practices. The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Conducting periodic and routine inspection activities on materials and equipment at project sites or storage facilities.
  • Monitoring and evaluating preservation programs for static and rotating equipment, electrical equipment, tools, and chemicals.
  • Inspecting incoming materials (e.g., pipes, valves, structural steel, coatings, insulation) to verify compliance with technical specifications and purchase orders.
  • Preparing detailed inspection reports, including documentation of any Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable local and international safety standards (e.g., ISO, API, ASME) and company procedures.
  • Coordinating with procurement, warehouse, engineering, and contractor teams to ensure a smooth flow of compliant materials.
  • Supervising the activities of less experienced inspectors and providing technical guidance.
  • Reviewing preservation plans for new projects and ensuring their effective implementation.
  • Using specialized inspection tools, measuring devices, and testing equipment correctly and safely.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a recognized technical diploma in a related field.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in materials and preservation inspection, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Energy, or major industrial project sectors.
  • Professional Certifications: Possession of recognized inspection certifications (e.g., Level 2 minimum) in areas such as Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) is highly preferred. Safety management certifications (e.g., NEBOSH) are a strong advantage.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of industry standards for materials, preservation methods, and quality management systems. Proficiency in basic computer software and reporting tools.
  • Personal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills (English is essential, Arabic knowledge is an advantage). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Physical ability to work on project sites which may require some fieldwork.

Job Location & Application

The primary work location is Muscat, Oman, with potential field visits to project sites across the Sultanate.
