Senior Procurement Engineer - Al Adrak Trading & Contracting LLC

Al Adrak Trading & Contracting LLC is actively recruiting for the position of Senior Procurement Engineer at its headquarters in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. This role represents a critical leadership position within the procurement department, where the incumbent will play a pivotal role in supporting the company's construction and trading operations by ensuring the acquisition of materials, equipment, and services to the highest quality standards and best financial value.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Senior Procurement Engineer will be entrusted with a range of strategic and operational tasks designed to optimize the supply chain and ensure project efficiency. The core responsibilities expected for this role include:

  • Overseeing the End-to-End Procurement Process: Managing the procurement cycle from need identification and request for quotation (RFQ), through the technical and commercial evaluation of vendors, to the issuance of purchase orders and follow-up on delivery.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Contracting: Sourcing, evaluating, and onboarding new vendors and subcontractors. Negotiating contract terms and prices to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality and reliability.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Guaranteeing that all purchasing activities adhere to the company's internal policies and procedures, as well as complying with applicable legal and regulatory requirements in Oman.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong, sustainable working relationships with key suppliers, monitoring their performance, and resolving any disputes or delivery delays.
  • Internal Coordination: Working closely with Engineering, Projects, Finance, and Site teams to accurately define requirements and ensure project needs are met on schedule.
  • Reporting: Developing and presenting periodic reports on procurement activity, budgets, achieved savings, and vendor performance to senior management.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks in the supply chain (such as shipping delays or price fluctuations) and developing mitigation plans.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field) from an accredited university. A higher degree in Supply Chain Management or Procurement will be an added advantage.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in engineering procurement or technical purchasing, with a strong focus on the contracting and trading sector. Previous experience in the Omani or GCC market is a significant plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of engineering materials and equipment used in construction and industrial projects.
    • Excellent proficiency in computer software (Microsoft Office Suite) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for procurement.
    • Strong understanding of contract management principles and relevant legal terms.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Arabic and English).
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet challenges.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Leadership skills and a team-player attitude.
