Senior Project Risk Engineer
A prominent player in the dynamic Saudi Arabian market is seeking to hire an experienced and innovative Senior Project Risk Engineer. The engineer will be responsible for leading and implementing a comprehensive risk management framework across the entire project lifecycle. This is not a routine role but a strategic position requiring a deep understanding of engineering principles, quantitative analysis, business processes, coupled with exceptional communication and persuasion skills to influence executive-level stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and Implement Risk Management Framework: Design and lead a systematic process for identifying potential risks (technical, financial, scheduling, regulatory, safety) at various project stages.
- Qualitative and Quantitative Assessment & Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of identified risks using standard tools and methodologies (e.g., Probability and Impact Analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, vulnerability reviews). Estimate potential impact on cost, schedule, scope, and quality.
- Develop Mitigation Plans: Work collaboratively with project managers and engineering/technical teams to develop proactive, effective risk mitigation plans and actionable contingency strategies.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Establish and implement a system for continuous monitoring of risk indicators. Prepare clear, comprehensive periodic risk status reports for executive management and stakeholders, highlighting critical issues and recommended paths forward.
- Risk Awareness Culture: Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability within project teams through training, mentoring, and ongoing engagement.
- Contract and Document Review: Review tender documents, contracts, and technical specifications to identify risk clauses and ensure they are appropriately covered.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field) from an accredited university. A Master's degree in Project Management, Risk Management, or a related technical field is a significant advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of hands-on experience in a project risk management role, with a strong focus on major engineering, construction, technical, or industrial projects. Experience in the Middle East region, particularly the Saudi market, is highly valued.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong proficiency in risk management tools and methodologies (e.g., RISK, @RISK, Pertmaster, or similar software). Deep understanding of project management lifecycles and methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical and deductive reasoning skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities for complex issues. Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Leadership skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
- Professional Certifications: Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), RMP (Risk Management Professional), or equivalents are a strong advantage.
