Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a critical role in ensuring the financial efficiency and specification compliance of assigned projects. Key responsibilities include:

• Cost Management: Preparing and analyzing initial and estimated project costs, monitoring budgets throughout the project lifecycle, identifying any financial variances, and proposing corrective solutions.
• Contract & Contractor Management: Assisting in the preparation of tender and bid documents, evaluating contractor submissions, and negotiating contract terms. This also involves managing subcontractor relationships and reviewing payment applications.
• Quantity Take-Off: Conducting accurate measurements of work quantities from drawings and specifications to prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) necessary for tendering and pricing.
• Valuation of Variations: Assessing the financial impact of any changes in the scope of work (Variations) and ensuring they are properly documented and claimed in accordance with contract conditions.
• Reporting: Preparing clear and periodic financial reports for project management, detailing cost status, budget adherence, and future financial forecasts.
• Compliance: Ensuring full compliance with all contractual terms, local Qatari regulations, and applicable international standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

To qualify for this distinguished role at Parsons, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: A minimum of 8 to 10 years of proven experience in quantity surveying, with a demonstrated track record on major infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, tunnels, water/wastewater projects). Previous experience in the Gulf region, specifically in Qatar, is a significant advantage.
• Professional Certification: A professional certification in Quantity Surveying (such as RICS or equivalent) is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in quantity surveying and cost management software (e.g., CostX, Candy, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written), strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail and accuracy, and the capacity to work under pressure within a multinational team environment.
• Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential. Knowledge of Arabic will be an additional advantage.
