Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Participate in the pre-operative assessment of patients in the cardiothoracic clinic, including reviewing medical history, lab results, imaging findings, and conducting anesthesia risk evaluation.
- Develop individualized and comprehensive anesthesia plans for each patient, considering their complex cardiac and pulmonary status.
- Administer and manage general anesthesia for patients during surgical procedures, with intensive monitoring of vital parameters (blood pressure, ECG, oxygen saturation, blood gases, BIS monitoring as needed).
- Manage potent and continuous cardiovascular medications (e.g., vasodilators, inotropes) to maintain hemodynamic stability.
- Oversee techniques for temporary circulatory support and collaborate with the perfusion team when required.
- Manage post-operative analgesia in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) or recovery room and handle post-anesthesia complications.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds and case discussions.
- Supervise and train junior residents and medical students.
- Adhere to the highest standards of safety, evidence-based practice, and institutional protocols.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Anesthesiology (e.g., Arab Board or equivalent).
- Proven practical experience (typically a minimum of 3-5 years post-residency) in anesthesiology, with a significant portion dedicated to cardiothoracic anesthesia.
- A valid medical license to practice in Bahrain or eligibility to obtain one.
- Exceptional communication and team management skills, with the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic is a distinct advantage.

Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of cardiac pharmacology and the pathophysiology of cardiothoracic diseases.
