Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The Senior Security Architecture Review Engineer will be responsible for leading and executing comprehensive security architecture reviews for IT systems, applications, and technologies. They will work closely with development, operations, and security consulting teams to build and assess strong cyber defenses. Core responsibilities include:

• Leading Security Architecture Reviews: Conducting in-depth, independent assessments of security architecture for new and existing systems, identifying potential design-phase vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
• Developing Security Standards & Frameworks: Contributing to the creation and evolution of security architecture policies, standards, and frameworks to ensure alignment with global best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SANS) and local regulatory requirements.
• Providing Consultative Recommendations: Offering practical, actionable recommendations to project teams and management to enhance the overall security posture and remediate identified gaps.
• Reviewing & Evaluating Security Solutions: Assessing the effectiveness of proposed security solutions (firewalls, IDS/IPS, IAM solutions, etc.) and their integration with the existing technology environment.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Acting as a technical liaison between the cybersecurity management team and network engineering, development, and infrastructure teams.
• Research & Development: Staying abreast of the latest cyber threats, emerging technologies, and Secure by Design best practices.
• Reporting: Preparing detailed, clear technical reports that present review findings along with risk scenarios and recommended corrective actions.

Qualifications & Core Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certifications are a strong advantage.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the cybersecurity field, with a proven focus on Security Architecture, Security Architecture Review, or Secure Design.
• Deep Technical Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of security architecture models and frameworks (e.g., SABSA, TOGAF).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of security technologies and tools (Identity & Access Management, encryption, network security, application security, cloud security).
  • Experience in security risk assessment and management.
  • Familiarity with security compliance requirements and regulations.
• Professional Certifications: Possession of relevant certifications such as CISSP-ISSAP, SABSA Chartered Architect, GIAC Defensible Security Architecture (GDSA), or similar is highly preferred.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal), with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences. Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
