Job Overview

The Sharia Controller will be based at the company's offices in either Sharjah or Dubai and will be primarily responsible for ensuring that all the company's financial processes, products, and services, as well as those of its stakeholders, comply with the provisions and principles of Islamic Sharia law. This role is a cornerstone for any institution operating in Islamic finance or offering Sharia-compliant products, as it ensures credibility and trust for clients and investors.

Key Expected Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Nationality: The applicant must hold UAE nationality.
  2. Educational Qualification: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Sharia, Islamic Jurisprudence and its Principles, Islamic Law, or an equivalent field. A Master’s degree or specialized certifications in Islamic Finance would be a strong advantage.
  3. Work Experience: Proven practical experience (typically a minimum of 3-5 years) in the field of Sharia control, Sharia auditing, or working in Sharia supervision bodies within an Islamic bank, Takaful insurance company, or Islamic financial institution.
  4. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the rulings on financial transactions in Islam (Fiqh al-Mu'amalat), and comprehensive knowledge of Islamic finance products (Murabaha, Mudaraba, Musharaka, Ijara, Salam, Istisna’, etc.).
  5. Personal Skills: High analytical and research skills, meticulous attention to detail, integrity and objectivity, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Language: Proficiency in Arabic (the language of the Quran and primary references) is imperative. Proficiency in English is considered a significant advantage in the international UAE job market.
