Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The SOC Engineer will be responsible for the continuous monitoring and proactive analysis of security threats targeting the company's systems and networks. Core responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and Detection: Monitoring security information tools (such as SIEM, IDS/IPS systems, advanced antivirus) around the clock to detect security incidents and suspicious activities.
- Analysis and Response: Analyzing security alerts, triaging their priority, investigating security incidents to determine their scope and root cause, and taking immediate corrective actions to contain threats.
- Incident Management: Following established incident response procedures (Playbooks) and meticulously documenting all steps from detection to closure.
- Reporting: Preparing regular reports on cybersecurity posture, threat patterns, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the SOC team and IT management.
- Continuous Improvement: Contributing to the enhancement of cybersecurity policies and procedures, suggesting upgrades or new tools to improve defense capabilities.
- Collaboration: Working closely with other IT teams (e.g., network, systems, development) to ensure a security-by-design approach across infrastructure projects.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Security, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or equivalent.
- Work Experience: Proven practical experience of at least 3 to 5 years in a similar field, such as working in a Security Operations Center (SOC), cyber threat analysis, or network and security engineering.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and concepts (attack, defense, incident response).
- Hands-on experience managing and operating Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms like Splunk, QRadar, ArcSight.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux), network protocols, and firewall engineering.
- Familiarity with Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) and advanced anti-malware platforms.
- Professional Certifications (Preferred): Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), or GCIH (GIAC Certified Incident Handler).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and investigative skills, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, and excellent communication and documentation abilities.
