Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The successful supervisor will be directly responsible for overseeing the operations of the Stewarding Department, a critical unit that supports the seamless function of the hotel's kitchens, restaurants, and food & beverage services. Core responsibilities include:

  • Leadership & Supervision: Leading and directing the team of stewards across all shifts, delegating tasks effectively, and ensuring adherence to the highest performance standards.
  • Quality & Hygiene Assurance: Supervising the cleaning and sanitization processes for all kitchenware (pots, pans, utensils), kitchen equipment, and work areas. Ensuring strict compliance with local and international food health and safety protocols (such as HACCP).
  • Inventory & Equipment Management: Monitoring stock levels of consumables (detergents, sanitizers) and tableware. Assisting with inventory counts and maintaining equipment, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Training & Development: Training new team members on the hotel's standard operating procedures and fostering a culture of cleanliness, efficiency, and safety among all staff.
  • Coordination & Support: Working closely with Executive Chefs and Restaurant Managers to understand and efficiently meet their operational needs, supporting the delivery of exceptional guest service.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensuring the department operates in line with the standards set by SOFITEL hotel management and the global Accor brand.

Qualifications and Key Requirements

To be a suitable candidate for this supervisory role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Work Experience: Proven previous experience of at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or assistant supervisory role within a Stewarding Department of a reputable hotel or upscale restaurant. Experience in international or high-star-rated hotels is a significant advantage.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of cleaning and sanitization procedures in commercial kitchens, with knowledge of food safety systems.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate, guide, and manage a team under pressure while maintaining high morale and quality standards.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage priorities and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic is an additional advantage.
  • Education: A diploma or suitable qualification in Hotel Management or a related field is preferred.
  • Personal Attributes: The candidate must be proactive, reliable, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.
