Storekeeper - Construction & Fit-Out Projects

GINCO Cont. Co. LLC, a contracting company, is actively recruiting for the position of Storekeeper to join their operational team in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This role is critical within the region's bustling construction sector, serving as a key support function for logistics and material supply, ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of construction and interior fit-out projects.

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

The appointed Storekeeper will be stationed at project sites or the company's main warehouse, responsible for the day-to-day management of construction project inventory. Core duties include:

  • Receiving & Unloading: Accepting incoming shipments of materials and equipment for projects, verifying quantities, quality, and conformity against purchase orders and invoices.
  • Storage & Organization: Storing materials and equipment in a secure, organized manner within the warehouse or designated storage area, adhering to safety standards and ensuring easy accessibility.
  • Material Issuance: Distributing materials, tools, and equipment to work crews (operators, laborers, technicians) based on authorized requisitions, maintaining accurate issuance records.
  • Inventory Control & Management: Conducting regular cycle counts and comprehensive physical inventory audits to ensure record accuracy, identifying any shortages or damages, and preparing inventory reports.
  • Maintaining Safety & Cleanliness: Ensuring the warehouse/storage area remains clean, tidy, and free of hazards, complying with all site-specific health and safety regulations.
  • Inter-Department Coordination: Working closely with project managers, site supervisors, and the procurement department to forecast material needs and report low stock levels in a timely manner.
  • Tool & Equipment Maintenance: Overseeing the condition of tools and small equipment in storage, arranging for repairs or maintenance as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Experience: Proven work experience of at least 2-3 years as a Storekeeper, preferably within the construction, contracting, or fit-out industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of the types of materials and equipment used on construction sites (electrical, plumbing, tools, paints, etc.).
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational skills and accuracy, with a strong attention to detail in inventory recording and management.
  • Logistics Skills: Practical knowledge of receiving, shipping, and storage procedures.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel) for handling simple inventory records.
  • Physical Ability: Good physical fitness to handle lifting boxes/materials and to stand or walk for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
  • Personal Attributes: High reliability, integrity, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Language: Working knowledge of English for reading and writing (to understand invoices, shipping labels). Knowledge of Arabic is a distinct advantage.
