Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Storekeeper will hold a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of the warehouse. The core responsibilities will focus on direct oversight of inventory and maintaining an organized, secure storage system. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Receiving incoming goods and shipments, verifying their quantities and quality against purchase orders and invoices.
- Organizing and storing materials and goods in their designated locations following best storage practices to ensure easy retrieval and safety.
- Issuing materials and goods based on authorized requisition slips (issue vouchers) and ensuring the accuracy of delivered quantities.
- Conducting regular inventory counts (cycle counts and annual stock-taking) and reconciling physical stock with recorded balances in the system.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records and entering data into Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar software.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and orderliness of the warehouse area consistently to promote a safe working environment and prevent accidents.
- Coordinating with other departments such as Procurement, Sales, and Production to fulfill their material requirements in a timely manner.
- Reporting any stock shortages, damaged goods, or other discrepancies to the direct supervisor.
- Adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or high school certificate with relevant experience. A certification in warehouse management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of practical experience in a similar role (Storekeeper or Store Assistant) within an industrial or commercial environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Hands-on knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and basic computer software like Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- A solid understanding of storage principles and optimal stock rotation (FIFO, LIFO where applicable).
- Ability to read and comprehend purchase orders, issue vouchers, and invoices.
- Personal Skills:
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail when handling numbers and quantities.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Physical fitness to perform tasks that may involve prolonged standing or lifting light loads.
- Good communication skills.
- Other Requirements: Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic. Basic knowledge of the English language is considered an additional advantage.
