Structural Commissioning Specialist - Offshore
A premier career opportunity is available in the State of Qatar to join vital energy projects as a Structural Commissioning Specialist for Offshore platforms. This role is central to ensuring the quality, safety, and operational efficiency of major offshore installations in the oil and gas sector.
Job Description & Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for critical processes associated with the final project phase, leading up to facility handover and full operation. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning & Supervision: Developing and executing comprehensive commissioning and testing plans for the structural components of offshore platforms, associated jetties, and support structures.
- Testing & Evaluation: Leading and conducting a series of functional tests and evaluations on structural elements to ensure compliance with design specifications and the highest industry safety standards.
- Quality Assurance: Verifying all structural work and equipment installation against engineering drawings, technical specifications, and local/international regulatory codes.
- Handover Management: Managing the final handover process from the construction contractor to the operations team, including reviewing and approving all technical documentation and reports.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying any structural deficiencies or issues during the commissioning phase and collaborating with engineering teams and contractors to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all activities are carried out in strict accordance with the rigorous Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols governing offshore work sites.
Qualifications & Essential Requirements
To be considered for this specialized position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering field. A higher degree may be an advantage.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in project commissioning within the oil and gas industry, with a strong focus on offshore projects. Previous experience working on projects in the GCC region, specifically Qatar, is a significant advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of relevant international standards (e.g., ISO, API, AISC) and marine safety regulations. Strong proficiency in relevant engineering and design software.
- Personal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with multicultural and cross-disciplinary teams. Strong leadership abilities and decision-making skills under pressure. Meticulous attention to detail.
- Professional Certifications: A valid medical certificate for offshore work. Safety certifications (e.g., H2S, T-BOSIET) are required or can be obtained post-employment.
Work Environment & Location
The role will be primarily based in Qatar, with expected periods of work on offshore platform sites on a rotational schedule.
