Job Description

The appointed Study Manager at Wood will be responsible for leading and coordinating feasibility studies and front-end engineering design (FEED) studies for major engineering projects, typically within the energy, oil & gas, or infrastructure sectors. The role entails managing the entire study lifecycle, from initial planning to delivering final recommendations to management and clients.

Key Expected Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team (technical, engineering, economic) to deliver studies on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop the Study's Scope of Work and ensure adherence throughout the project.
  • Coordinate and compile inputs from various engineering and technical disciplines to create integrated reports.
  • Manage study risks, identify potential challenges, and propose practical solutions.
  • Ensure the quality of outputs and their alignment with company and industry standards.
  • Interface directly with clients to understand their requirements and provide regular updates.
  • Prepare final presentations and reports summarizing the study methodology, findings, recommendations, and financial/economic analysis.
  • Adhere to the highest Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards in all work activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

Wood is looking for highly qualified candidates with proven practical experience in an engineering consultancy project environment.

Academic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field) from an accredited university. A Master's degree is an advantage.
  • Professional certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Contract Management will be highly regarded.

Required Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering and consultancy, with a substantial portion dedicated to leading or actively contributing to project feasibility and front-end studies.
  • Proven experience working on projects in the oil & gas, energy, or process industries.
  • Previous experience in a global consultancy environment or with major Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors.
  • In-depth understanding of the project lifecycle, from initial concept to execution.
  • Experience working within multicultural and multinational teams, particularly in a Middle East context.

Personal and Professional Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team and deliver objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
  • High analytical ability and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
