The company is currently seeking to fill the critical position of Subcontractor Planner, a vital role within the project management team dedicated to ensuring efficient and timely project execution.
Job Description and Key Responsibilities
The Subcontractor Planner will be integrated into the project planning department and will be primarily responsible for coordinating between the company's management and the subcontractors who execute a significant portion of the ship repair works. The core responsibilities of this role include:
- Work Planning and Scheduling: Developing detailed plans and schedules for subcontractor activities, aligning them with the overall project timeline and vessel delivery deadlines.
- Coordination and Monitoring: Acting as the main point of contact between project management and contracting companies, ensuring the timely provision of necessary resources (materials, manpower, equipment). This also involves monitoring on-site work progress against the established plans.
- Report Analysis: Reviewing and analyzing progress reports submitted by subcontractors, identifying any delays or deviations from the plan, and proposing corrective solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Participating in the improvement of planning processes and work procedures with subcontractors to enhance overall efficiency and productivity.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensuring all subcontractor work adheres to the high safety and quality standards mandated by Asyad Drydock, as well as local and international regulations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Civil) or Project Management, or a related field.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practical experience in a similar role (Project Planner, Subcontractor Coordinator, Planning Engineer), preferably within the ship repair, heavy industrial construction, or oil and gas industries. Prior experience in dealing with subcontractors is a fundamental requirement.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in project planning software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6. Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) are also essential.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the capacity to work under pressure and meet challenges. A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is highly desired.
- Language: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, as it is the primary working language in this sector. Knowledge of Arabic is considered a distinct advantage.
