Job Description

The Mechanical Team Leader will hold a vital leadership and operational role within the ship repair yard. He/she will be directly responsible for guiding and managing a team of mechanical technicians and engineers, ensuring that maintenance, repair, and refurbishment works for various vessels and marine structures are executed according to the highest standards of quality, safety, and time efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and direct a mechanical team consisting of technicians and assistants, distributing daily tasks among them.
• Plan and organize mechanical maintenance and repair operations for vessels, including main and auxiliary engine systems, pumping systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Read and interpret engineering schematics and technical drawings, ensuring work is carried out as per required specifications.
• Monitor work quality and supervise inspection and testing processes for mechanical fittings post-repair.
• Strictly adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols in the workplace and enforce company policies in this regard.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the team, identifying training needs to enhance their competencies.
• Coordinate work with other departments such as electrical and hull to ensure operational integration.
• Prepare daily technical reports on work progress, achievements, and challenges.

Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this leadership opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualifications:

• A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Professional certifications in safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) will be a strong added advantage.

Work Experience:

• A minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and repair for ships or in similar heavy industrial environments (refineries, power plants).
• Proven experience of at least 2 to 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role, with the ability to manage a technical team.
• In-depth knowledge of ship mechanical systems, manufacturing specifications, and marine safety protocols.

• Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a team towards achieving goals.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in Arabic and English.
• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, effective decisions in a dynamic work environment.

Work Location
