Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Technician will be assigned to the maintenance team and will be primarily responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of mechanical equipment associated with power generation and transmission systems. The core responsibilities of this role include:

• Executing preventive and scheduled maintenance plans for mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, power transmission systems (gears, belts), valves, and heat exchangers.
• Diagnosing faults and performing breakdown repairs and emergency fixes on malfunctioning equipment to minimize downtime and production losses.
• Reading and interpreting engineering schematics, technical drawings, and equipment operation & maintenance manuals.
• Using precision measurement and inspection tools (e.g., vibration analyzers, industrial stethoscopes, thickness gauges) to assess equipment condition.
• Inspecting, installing, and replacing mechanical components like bearings, seals, couplings, and shafts.
• Ensuring all maintenance work is carried out in compliance with the highest Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and local regulations.
• Documenting all maintenance and repair work performed in detailed reports, including man-hours, parts consumed, and future recommendations.
• Assisting in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Working collaboratively with electrical, instrumentation & control technicians, and operations teams to ensure seamless system integration.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

To qualify for this career opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance Technology, or a related field from a recognized technical institute or college.
• Work Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical equipment maintenance, with preference given to experience in the power, manufacturing, oil & gas, or industrial utilities sector.
• Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of the working principles of rotating and static mechanical equipment.

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) for team interaction and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Other Requirements: Proficiency in English for reading and comprehension (to understand instructions and technical manuals). Knowledge of Arabic may be an additional advantage.
