Job Description

The successful candidate will assume the role of a Telecom Commissioning Specialist (Offshore), responsible for the commissioning, testing, and handover of telecommunication systems on offshore platforms and coastal facilities. This position is critical for ensuring the continuity and reliability of communication systems that support offshore operations within Qatar's expanding energy and infrastructure sector.

Key Expected Responsibilities:

• Plan and oversee the commissioning activities for new or upgraded offshore telecom systems.
• Conduct functional and integration testing for diverse telecom systems such as VHF/UHF radio, VSAT satellite systems, marine telephone systems, and data networks.
• Ensure all commissioned systems comply with technical specifications, international standards, and local Qatari regulations.
• Coordinate work with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure commissioning activities are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Prepare commissioning reports, test documentation, and complete technical documentation for telecom systems.
• Provide technical support during the project handover phase to permanent operations.
• Identify and troubleshoot technical issues arising during commissioning and testing phases.
• Strictly adhere to all applicable marine and industrial safety procedures at work sites.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

This position targets professionals with extensive field experience. Core requirements include:

• A Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in commissioning and testing telecom systems, with preference given to experience in offshore, oil & gas, or major industrial projects.
• In-depth knowledge of marine/industrial telecom systems and network systems.
• Experience in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, system diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Ability to work on offshore platforms on a rotational basis (shift pattern) as required by the project.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, as it is the primary working language. Knowledge of Arabic will be a distinct advantage.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and in a multicultural environment.
• Candidates must be medically fit for offshore work.
