The Travel Consultant will be placed in the sales and customer service division, acting as the direct face of the company to clients. The primary responsibilities for this role include:
- Customer Service and Consultation: Attending to customers (in-person, via phone, and email) and accurately understanding their travel needs. Providing professional advice on tourist destinations, trip itineraries, accommodation options, and tour activities.
- Booking and Organizing Travel: Utilizing Global Distribution Systems (GDS) and specialized software to book international and domestic flight tickets, reserve hotels, organize comprehensive tour packages (holiday bundles), and secure travel visas when required.
- Sales and Target Achievement: Working towards achieving specific sales targets set by management. Driving sales by promoting special offers and suggesting service upgrades to enhance the value of each booking.
- Technical Knowledge: Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of airline details, tour operators, visa systems, health travel regulations (such as vaccination requirements), and any current travel restrictions.
- Follow-up and Problem Resolution: Tracking reservation statuses with supplier partners, handling any changes or cancellations, and assisting clients in resolving any issues that may arise before or during their travel.
- Market Awareness: Keeping abreast of tourism market trends and developments, particularly concerning popular destinations to and from Bahrain and the GCC countries.
Qualifications and Essential Requirements
To be a successful candidate for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification: A diploma or bachelor's degree in any relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Tourism & Hospitality, Marketing) is preferred. Those with extensive and proven experience in the field may be considered.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of prior experience in the travel agency or tourism sector, in a similar role as a reservations agent or travel consultant. Experience in the Bahraini or Gulf market is a strong added advantage.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Office software. Practical knowledge of Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as Amadeus, Galileo, or Sabre is often a fundamental requirement for this type of role.
- Personal Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in both Arabic and English.
- Exceptional sales and customer service skills with the ability to persuade.
- Ability to work under pressure and during peak times while maintaining composure and politeness.
