VAPT Analyst / SOC Analyst (Cyber Security) Jobs in Kuwait

Job Description and Key Responsibilities

The selected analyst will occupy a pivotal role within the cybersecurity team, with core responsibilities spanning both proactive and reactive cyber defense:

• Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT):

  • Plan and execute authorized penetration testing activities on systems, networks, and web applications.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using specialized tools to identify, classify, and prioritize security vulnerabilities based on risk.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports outlining findings, including discovered vulnerabilities, their risk ratings, and recommended remediation steps.
  • Simulate real-world attack scenarios (Red Teaming) to evaluate the effectiveness of overall security defenses.

• Security Operations Center (SOC) Analysis:

  • Perform continuous monitoring of systems and networks using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR/XDR) tools.
  • Analyze and triage security alerts, investigating suspected security incidents to determine their scope, origin, and impact.
  • Perform initial incident response and execute appropriate containment actions as per the established incident response plan.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing research into emerging cyber threats and threat intelligence to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to remediate vulnerabilities and improve security posture.
  • Assist in developing and implementing new security strategies and controls.

Qualifications and Core Requirements

To be a successful candidate for this role, you should meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Work Experience: Proven hands-on experience of at least 3 years in the cybersecurity field, with direct experience in either VAPT or SOC analysis. Experience in both areas is highly preferred.
• Technical Skills:
  • In-depth understanding of networking technologies, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with penetration testing tools such as Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, Nessus, or OpenVAS.
  • Practical experience working with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, ArcSight) and EDR tools.
  • Strong understanding of security standards and frameworks like OWASP Top 10, MITRE ATT&CK, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or PowerShell is a significant advantage.
• Professional Certifications: Possession of relevant international certifications is highly valued, such as:
  • For VAPT: CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional), GPEN.
  • For SOC: CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GCIH, or vendor-specific SIEM certifications.
• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and investigative skills, ability to work under pressure, keen attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication and reporting skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
